This presentation will explore the possibilities of whether regions of the U.S. vary in the timing and circumstances of their recessions. Wilkerson will highlight job growth trends in recent business cycles, timing and depth of regional recessions, and economic recoveries and expansions across the country.

About the Speaker

Chad Wilkerson joined the Oklahoma City Branch Office of the Federal Reserve Bank of Kansas City in January 2006 as Branch Executive. In this role, he serves as the bank’s regional economist and representative in the state of Oklahoma, recruits and works closely with the branch’s board of directors and is responsible for briefing the Kansas City Federal Reserve president. He is a member of the Federal Open Market Committee on economic and business activity in the state.

Wilkerson has been with the Federal Reserve since 1998, beginning in Kansas City’s Research Department. He holds a master’s degree from the University of Chicago and a bachelor’s degree from William Jewell College in Liberty, MO. He also studied economics for a year at Oxford University in England.

Wilkerson is a board member of the United Way of Central Oklahoma and Economic Club of Oklahoma. He serves on the Research Advisory Board of the State Chamber and as treasurer of the Downtown Club of Oklahoma City. He is originally from the St. Louis area and attended high school in a small town in central Missouri.
